ACU-LUNCH BREAK

NOTE: THERE WILL NOT BE A SESSION ON AUGUST 12 and AUGUST 19

When: 11:30am – 1:00pm Tuesday mornings

Cost: $12 per session, prepay 6 for $60

Want an alternative to a fast-food lunch? Find it difficult to schedule an hour treatment for yourself? Then try this mid-day stress reliever.

Drop in between 11:30 and 12:15 on Tuesday mornings and receive a simple acupuncture treatment to relieve stress. We will alternate between two protocols, one involving five needles in each ear, and a second using a total of four points on the tops of the hands and feet. Enjoy relaxing music and a view of nature as you sit with others who are also seeking some mid-day peace and quiet. Needles will remain in place for 20-30 minutes.

When your treatment is done, feel free to fill your travel mug with some calming herbal tea as you return to your day.

Please call 703-623-8340 for more information. If you are new to acupuncture, it is best if we can have a short discussion prior to your first treatment as we want the treatment space to remain as quiet as possible.

T’ai Chi imparts the experience of stability, a deep connection to both to oneself and others, and a wonderful lightness born of the awakened spirit. T’ai Chi lets us relax into our true being and enjoy life fully. The practice helps us to both slow down and to wake up; to relax profoundly while remaining completely alert, to quiet the mind and to center oneself. A full “round” takes seven to ten minutes to practice and requires only a small, flat space.

This class will teach the first third of the Yang Style Short Form as taught by Professor Cheng Man-Ching in a series of weekly classes. In addition to the weekly classs, there is a free (optional) introductory class on September 12th, and a final (optional) review class at the end of the series. Each class will last for one hour and will include specific verbal instructions, clear demonstrations, and hands-on corrections.

The instructor, Anne Smyers, has been studying with and teaching T’ai Chi for thirty years with the T’ai Chi Foundation, founded by Patrick Watson, senior student of Grandmaster Cheng. She credits T’ai Chi with helping her to remain centered in a world of ceaseless movement and distraction.
