Closure & Cancellations

The practice is closed through at least April 6.

All classes canceled until at least May 11.

Please stay safe and be well! I hope to see you in a few weeks.

We have all had the experience of stepping into a room or an office and feeling an immediate sense of peace or of happiness. Similarly, we have all spent time in a beautifully decorated home or restaurant where something just seems to feel a bit amiss. Despite a beautiful surrounding, we find ourselves just a little uneasy.

This is the power of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui loosely translates as “Wind and Water,” and refers to the idea that by following the laws of nature (just like we do in Acupuncture) we can create living and working environments that support us in all that we do.

An understanding of Feng Shui principles can help us use color and furniture placement in the bedroom to ensure a more restful night’s sleep. A Feng Shui “cure” can turn our home office into a powerhouse of activity, enhancing our focus and motivation.

Here’s an example I think we can all relate to. Your garage. What does it look like right now? Crammed with tools, outgrown children’s toys, dried-out buckets of paint? From a Feng Shui perspective, your garage represents your transition from work to home. If it is an obstacle course, a reminder of all-the-things-that-need-to-be-done, if the clutter creates a state of disorder and frustration in your mind, then that’s what you bring into the house with you. Who needs that at the end of another stressful day at the office or after doing errands? An orderly and attractive garage (I painted mine and put posters on the walls) can help create a feeling of serenity and joy as you reconnect with your family at the end of the day.

This advice was given to me by Lynne Greene, a professional Feng Shui consultant. Lynne worked with me when I moved into my new home three years ago. With her expert guidance, I gained an appreciation of the simple, yet effective, ways that we can use every day objects to create a more pleasing, purposeful environment.
