For New & Established Patients

Many new and established patients do not know whether or not their insurance policy includes reimbursement for acupuncture treatment.  Patients will ask me whether or not I take insurance without even knowing whether or not their policy covers treatment.  The primary question is not whether i take insurance, but whether your insurance policy covers acupuncture treatment! I cannot stress this enough! I recently had a patient who assumed that her policy covered acupuncture.  She waited to file until she had seen me ten times, and was then dismayed to find out that none of the visits were covered.  On the other hand, I had a patient who just assumed that his policy did not cover acupuncture.  FINALLY convinced him to submit a receipt for reimbursement, and much to his happy surprise he received a check for 80% of the fee!  It is best for both of us, patient and provider, to avoid situations like this!  

You need to call your insurance company to understand whether or not acupuncture is covered under your specific policy.  Attached is a form to help you make the best use of your time as you do this.  Fill out the top of the form before you make the call.  The questions are self-explanatory and I am happy to review the form with you.  Bring the form with you to your next visit.  While I do not file for insurance reimbursement on your behalf, knowing the details of your policy can help us work together to ensure that you are getting the benefits to which you are entitled.
